Adrian Edmondson’s Folk Punk Explosion – The Bad Shepherds
Hello, I’m Adrian the Bad Shepherd. This is my band.
These are some truths I know:
- I love the songs of ‘76 – ‘82. I was 19 in ‘76 when punk arrived. Those songs were the soundtrack to my life as I went through Uni and started pretending to be a comedian. I loved the noise, the faces and the attitude.
- I love making music. Got my first guitar when I was 13 and along the way I’ve picked up ten other guitars, a banjo, a ukelele, two trumpets, a banjolele, a mandolin, an autoharp, a charanga, two pianos, a tenor guitar, a triangle and even made myself some ‘Coconuts’ (made – strangely enough – from a coconut).
- I love folk music, I love the noise – at its live best it’s the most exciting music to be in the same room with.
- It occured to me that punk was the folk music of its day.
I decided to form a band to reflect all of the above.It would be great if you came along for the ride.CheersAdrian

The gig at Telfords on 21st December will be the last chance to see us for several months, as after 10 years of regular, if not frequent gigging we’ve decided it’s time for a break. But never fear! We’ll be back, and we are in initial discussions with several festivals for May through to September in 2009. We had great feedback from the festivals this year and it seems like a direction that we all want to go. Special thanks to all the people who came to see us at Glastonbury, Cropredy and Loopallu which were all particularly special. Honourable mentions also for Holmfirth and Middlewich Folk festivals as well as all the 1-off gigs and the 10th Anniversary mini-tour in March. It’s been a good year!

Telford’s New Year’s Eve ‘Bad Taste Ball’ [+]

Well, as the washer woman of time shake’n’vacs the shag pile carpet of eternity, I notice that it’s that time of year again…and with it comes our customary costume carouse.
This year’s antics will be held under the ‘Bad Taste’ banner and really ANYTHING goes, the more cringe worthy the better. Telford’s will be a politically correct free zone, crimes against fashion, black and white minstrels, the 1980’s, investment bankers, unloved Christmas jumpers, Basil Fawlty, garden gnomes, Russell Brand, mankinis…no taboos and nothing is sacred…kiss goodbye and good riddance to the crunch year of 2008 and let your imagination run riot, this is going to be a classic!
(Just don’t mention the war)
