Gwenno (ex Pippettes)

Gwenno Saunders is one of pop’s best subverters. Most people will know her from her vocal and song-writing duties with the Spinal Tap-riffic the Pipettes, others may know her from her Cornish and Welsh pop career which she lovingly refers to as ‘Gwenya.’ Others may even in fact know her from her days in Lord of the Dance, ‘Challenge Gwenno‘ or Pobol y Cwm.

For this concert she performs in an as of yet untested guise… as herself. Simple. The machinery removed presenting only the songs in their purist, most basic form.
And what are these songs? From the domestic pillow talk argument of ‘U & I’ to the street beat, stick two fingers up at Debbie Harry and Madonna, poptimism of ‘I’ve Been Searching’ Gwenno documents her life through her songs, and will perform these songs just so you can hear them and just so she can play them the same way she writes them; behind a keyboard, make a drum pattern and let it all come out.
