Son of the legendary UK singer-songwriter Roy Harper, Nick was born in London and raised in Wiltshire. Having played the guitar from the age of 10 and surrounded by the likes of Keith Moon, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and Dave Gilmour as he grew up, it was no surprise when Nick made his recording debut on his father’s Whatever Happened to Jugula? in 1985.

Nick’s talent and energy entranced Roy’s fans and it was inevitable that he would begin touring and recording in his own right. The 1994 EP Light at the End of the Kennel was swiftly followed by his powerful 1995 debut long player Seed prompting The Independent to describe him as “hugely talented”.

Formed by guitarist Andy Lewis, The Jazz Union draw their inspiration from the funky, soulful jazz of the early ’60’s ‘Mad Men’ era. With their distinctive two saxes and two guitars, The Jazz Union present their own take on diverse standards interlaced with tuneful originals.

The first band to ever grace the stage at Telford’s Warehouse (as it stands in its current guise anyway…) Cat Scratch Fever in their original lineup return to make their triumphant return after what many expected to be an indefinite hiatus.

The peculiar Liverpool cult band formed in the late summer of 1992 featuring two ex members of Liverpool group ‘The Lawnmower’ Tony Doyle (AKA Tox Jameson) and D.A. Dolman (AKA Two-Gun Tennessee Slim) asked Paul Kappa (AKA Dr Hank B Death) if he would join with them in a musical appreciation of all things Sun Session. It was for a couple of gigs, and just for a kick. They played The Casablanca Club on Hope St. Liverpool and the reaction was so good they did it again and again and again, until in 1998, after more than 1800 gigs, Paul quit the band.

In those six years, they appeared at Glastonbury (1997) and Cropredy (1998), incidentally Paul’s last ever gig with the band. They appeared on several times on TV and were regulars with Mark Lamarr on his afternoon show on GLR, brodcast from Baker St. in London.

So once again Dr Hank B Death… a frock coated ,Colt Navy totin’ guitar player, ripping Country and Eastern apart, with his faithful pals Tox Jameson and Two-Gun Tennessee Slim will take Telford’s by force and rip the place to shreds…  Don’t miss this stunning show from the resurected Cat Scratch Fever.

Saturday 6th November – £4 Entry

Gabby Young and Other Animals are altogether more out there, the eponymous frontwoman being something to behold; an art-school dervish of jazzy excitement. Accompanied by a little brass section, she wails her way through angular romps like “Snakebite”, and broods on more sombre affairs like upcoming single “We’re all in this together”. Their sound won’t be pinned down, but different and exciting feel like the appropriate adjectives.

Calling Kate Walsh a singer songwriter is like saying Van Gogh was a cartoonist. Kate is, er, different. A 26-year-old from a sailing town in Essex who’s been likened to Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush and Jane Austen, she’s ferociously independent…in every sense. She adores Debussy, studies cello, listens constantly to Classic FM (and little else), bemoans the demise of vinyl and CDs (she finally got an iPod when iTunes gave her one after her last album ‘Tim’s House’ knocked Take That off the top of the download chart but rarely uses it), is entertainingly scathing about the conventional music industry (“it’s fickle, selfish, impersonal and backstabbing”) – and has established her own cottage industry to do it her way. Denis Jones is a self-taught guitarist and songwriter from Lancashire, UK. Having begun his musical life as a singer songwriter in the classic UK mould of the likes of John Martyn, he has over the last three years developed a show-stopping live performance based around the core of his exceptional and unique guitar-playing style and rich, soulful voice.

Utilising a loop station and all manner of samplers and effects, Denis creates vast, complex orchestrations of beat-box rhythms, multi-layered vocals and other-wordly sounds which veer from subtle heart-wrenching folk and blues to heavy bass-driven electronica.

His second, and long awaited follow up album ‘yellow + red =’ has been mastered by George Atkins @ 80 Hertz Recording Studios.

Denis has collaborated with many high profile artists from all over Europe, including a track with Dusseldorf artist Kemo which was included on Marcus Intelex’s Fabric Live 35 compilation. He has also worked with John Ellis and Luke Flowers (Cinematic Orchestra), Jon Thorne (Lamb) and Henry Da Massa (Micah P Hinson), all of whom appear on Denis’s recordings.

He has played all over Europe, as far afield as Lithuania, Georgia and Croatia, as well as festival shows in the UK including Secret Garden Party (after a personal invite from BBC Radio 1 DJ Eddy Temple-Morris), Glastonbury, End of The Road, Great Escape, Big Chill and Futuresonic. He has supported Amp Fiddler at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, Efterklang at Bush Hall, Chris Corsano, Kieran Hebden and Steve Reid and many more.

Denis’s debut album, Humdrum Virtue, was released in 2007 in a unique limited edition industrial packaging, designed by Denis himself, selling out rapidly and leading to the re-issue of the album in a slightly more conventional, but still striking packaging. Tracks from the album have been included on compilations in Europe and Canada. A second album is almost complete and there are plans for more collaboration projects involving the musicians Denis has worked with from Manchester, Germany and Lithuania.

40th Anniversary Memorial Gig

Hendrix Show

The guitar, bass and drums trio The Hamsters have long been established as one of our premier live attractions. Although a band in their own right – playing Rock, Blues and Americana - they’ve also long widely been regarded as the UK’s leading interpreters of Jimi Hendrix’s music.

Tonight, on their Jimi Hendrix 40th Anniversary Memorial Tour, they’ll be performing a show of his songs to commemorate his passing 40 years ago in September 1970.

The band will ’support’ themselves by first playing a set of their own brand of music, then return for a full Jimi show!

THE GENTLEMAN’S DUB CLUB

Gentleman’s Dub Club is a nine-piece band that formed in Leeds in early
2006. With a style based in dub, ska and roots reggae, GDC have burst
onto the UK circuit, rocking gigs and festivals up and down the country
with their super high energy show. Combining tight grooves and a
heavyweight sound, Gentleman’s Dub Club bring the party to crowds of
all ages hungry for a dance floor workout, with their gigs often ending in
a frenzied mosh pit reminiscent of a mid 80’s ska night. Live effects and
mixing make for a crystal clear sound, and the band’s larger than life
stage presence makes for a mesmerising experience.

The GDC have supported such acts as Roots Manuva, The Streets, The
Wailers, Finlay Quaye, Natty, The Bays, Beardyman, Zion Train and

Dar Williams is set to release her eighth studio album, Many Great Companions, via Razor & Tie on October 12th.  Many Great Companions is a new album of Dar Williams classics recorded acoustically with special guests, with an additional disc of Williams’ most significant songs.  Songs span Dar’s impressive career from 1993’s The Honesty Room through 2008’s Promised Land.

On Songs Revisited With Guitar and a Few Friends, Dar re-records 12 classic songs from her extensive catalogue, all performed acoustically.  She’s joined by several fellow musicians and friends on the new versions, including Sean and Sara Watkins of Nickel Creek, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Patty Larkin, Motherlode, and Gary Louris of the Jayhawks who also produced the album.  The bonus disc, Best of Dar Williams, is not just a compilation, but rather a journey through Dar’s career.  Listeners are able to follow Dar as she transforms from a folk singer just starting out to the seasoned musician she is today.
