The Roseville Band [+]

£4 Entry

Born and raised in Wrexham, North Wales, The Roseville Band deliver soulful, bluesy rock tunes. Forming the creative nucleus of the band, the guitarist brothers Andy and Steve Jones grew up in a house – Roseville – in the idyllic Flintshire Mountains, drawing in a community of friends and musicians from the surrounding area, which gave rise to the Roseville Band in 2006.

The Roseville Band form a folksy fusion built around songwriter Andy’s distinctive husky vocals, intertwined with beguiling melodies, a sturdy rhythm section and embellished by a two-piece horn section, delivering a joyful musical celebration. The six-piece line-up reverts to the heartfelt, rhapsodic and gritty music of Neil Young, Dexy’s Midnight Runners and The Band, as well as drawing fresher influences from likes of Band of Horses, Arcade Fire and The Mystery Jets. Their conviction and dedication to innovation has steered them beyond trends to places of unfettered artistic integrity.

Dubbed ‘the Welsh Kings of Leon’ by the NME, The Roseville Band debuted with sessions and airplay on XFM Manchester, Juice FM, MFM Radio and – of course – BBC Wales, and chalked up triumphant performances at Glastonbury Festival and Cardiff Calling, where they appeared alongside the likes of Super Furry Animals & The Streets. All this, tied in with a commendably intense work ethic (well over two hundred gigs in their two years of existence), has established their reputation as fervently committed performers of powerful songs.

Following on from the recent EP Where Have You Been?, Little Eyes In The Universe, their debut album, was recorded with producers Dom McCready and Lance Thomas [Simian and Ladytron]. Dedicated, inspired and inspiring, The Roseville Band have always been ones to let their music do the talking, now it’s time for us to listen.
