The Undercover Hippy

Having been in a few bands in Hereford during his early teenage years, Billy left the world of live music to become a DJ aged 16. He spent the next 7 years DJing and MCing to crowds across the UK, finally ending up as the resident MC for the “Guerrilla Collective”, a drum and bass collective based in Singapore, now signed to Goldie’s Metalheadz label.
In 2002, Billy bought a guitar, sold his turntables, and began singing and writing once more. To make up for his then empty repertoire of songs, Billy would use his MC lyrics and put them to chords, and like this his distinctive style began to develop.
After a couple of years travelling and writing songs, followed by 2 years living in barcelona, Billy finally returned to Britain to do the festival circuit in 2007. In the spring of 2008 Billy was joined by James Pagella (Drums), Ben Blackmore (Bass), and the legendary Andreas Millns (Keys) and a hugely successful festival season followed. Since then Billy and the band have been gigging relentlessly.
The Undercover Hippy’s first official single, “Money Money Money”, will be coming out in Dec 2008. It is being released by german Label Agogo Records as a 7″ vinyl with Snap back as the B Side.
