Joshua Caole Solo Show [+]

Free Entry

‘Slow Hearts’ is the debut solo release of Joshua Caole. Released in December 2010 it marked the culmination of three years spent touring in other peoples bands (such as The School and James Apollo) and a need to return his city of Cardiff to play music more dear to his heart. Praised for its “lyrical sharpness” by Northern Noise, ‘Slow Hearts’ contemplates the time Joshua spent away from his home city and has been likened to such featured on Harry Smith’s Anthology of American Folk Music. It reflects Joshua’s upbringing in the back rooms of deserted Forest Pubs, where he learnt his trade from whomever he found there. Produced by Llion Robertson (Al Lewis, Eugene Francis Jr, The Gentle Good), ‘Slow Hearts’ features an array of
Cardiff musicians (Sweet Baboo, Jack Egglestone, Mark Foley) and combines the songwritingof Ryan Adams with the vocal fragility of Bright Eyes.

It has been a fantastic year for Joshua Caole, seeing him go from playing gigs in his home town to the prestigious sold out London event Lexapalooza Lite (with Frank Turner, Beans on Toast and Oxygen Thief) and a sold out show with Charlie Parr at St Bonaventure’s in Bristol whilst on tour supporting James Apollo. Released on his own label, Bullo Pill Recordings, ‘Slow Hearts’
has been received incredibly well and is being championed by Adam Walton at BBC Wales, with a BBC radio session coming up later in the year. This summer he is playing at some of the UK’s most exciting bespoke festivals such as How The Light Gets In and Lounge on the Farm.
