Meilir
Meilir Rhun ap Tomos, born 27 February 1981, from the small town of Caerwys, North Wales. As a young person Meilir was encouraged to play music & achieved success in Wales as a singer at various Eisteddfod Festivals.
Aiming to create interesting melody driven songs with experimental elements, Meilir recorded his debut EP, the bilingual Welsh titled “Bydd Wych”. The title comes from an ancient Welsh battle cry of hope that translates it’s meaning as Be Great or Be as good as you can. Released in 2009 to very enthusiastic reviews, it sold out in a matter of months.
Meilir has just completed work on his eagerly awaited second Ep to be titled Cellar Songs. Working again with producer Charlie Francis, it is a collection of six carefully crafted songs that were written in the small studio in the cellar of Meilir’s home. Cellar Songs was officially released on the 21st February 2011.
