Everything Is Now presents… Honeyfeet [+]

Free Before 9pm, £4 Thereafter

Honeyfeet 1
Songs about eating people! Dancing on graves! Infidelity! But it’s not all bad news.
Manchester’s finest ethio-trad, folk-hop & barrelhouse-pop exponents have the skill, charm and (frankly) tunes to pull it all together into a joyful, foot-banging sound.
Evoking the afro-funk of Mulatu Atstake, the exuberant folk of Flook, and the blues of Junior Wells without ever sounding contrived or unoriginal, Honeyfeet have in Ríoghnach Connolly one of the most striking frontwomen on the scene at the moment (“Seldom has conspicuous greatness been more accessible” – Mike Butler, City Life).
Honeyfeet released their debut EP “Little Boat” on Debt Records last year, with full length album “It’s a Good Job I Love You” to follow in summer 2013.

Mahones 1

Thursday, September the 19th is ‘International talk like a Pirate day’

‘Why’s that’? you ask

Because it is!

The jokes will flow like rum, and the rum will flow like, well rum possibly

‘Why’s that’?

Because  it does!

We have a local shanty band as well as prizes for best costume and funniest pirate joke. The ‘Pirates of Pen-y-Fford’ are the latest shanty singing sensation from the mud flats of the Dee Delta, and Telford’s are proud to be hosting their only mainland gig this year!

‘Why’s that’?

Because it is!

Just for the evening you can be a Pirate, or a Moll, a wench or even a lady of negotiable affection. Dress up as if you are going to get drunk and look like a drunken ‘Roger’ (the cab’in boy) in the taxi home, Let out your inner Rapskallion and seek sweet treasure in the bilges of the good ship Telford’s- every fair maid likes her entertainment full of sea men.

Just for the evening Pirates will be the coolest dudes in the pub

‘Why’s that’?

Because they ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRHHHHHHHHH!

By The Sea [+]

Free Before 9pm, £4 Thereafter

The Wirral’s By The Sea released their debut album in late 2012, mixed by their friend Bill Ryder – Jones

“We hope it sounds like a series of failed Springsteen anthems played with too many chorus pedals. That is the theme.”

By The Sea make music that can’t contain itself, that is so bursting with joy it sounds like it is tripping over itself in its desire to get out of the speakers. And yet whilst some of these songs sound like anthems, there is a constant introspection that stops them from ever sounding bloated.

There have been comparisons to early Stone Roses, The Go-Betweens and dreampop, but like fellow young Northerners, MONEY, they are pulling on past influences and making them sound like the the most disorientating love affair that ever failed.

This album comes out on Dell’Orso and on vinyl by our friends at Great Pop Supplement. Dream Waters is the current GPS 7” single, and Alone Together will come out as a single in January with a remix of Game Of Circles by label mate, Cian Ciaran (Super Furry Animals)

“By The Sea are a hugely exciting Merseyside based band who are more than successfully crafting that melancholic yet entirely satisfied sensation; the one that feels like you’re semi-drunk on England’s annual baking hot afternoon, even though it’s pissing down with the ferocity of Charlie Brooker outside” – Not Many Experts
