Jez Kerr is a Manchester legend. The bassist/vocalist from A Certain Ratio who are one of the cornerstones of Manchester music. Factory records favourites who regularly supported Joy Division and were New York regulars in the early 80’s. He has stepped out for a solo jaunt and the results have been outstanding. His first solo single Play Sumthing Fast was critically acclaimed by the music press and had many airings on BBC 6 Music and Radio 2. It was nominated as single of the week on The Radcliffe and Maconie show.
Jez followed this up with a solo album ‘Numb Mouth Eat Waste’ which received 5 star reviews in Q magazine, Mojo magazine and The Guardian Newspaper.
Live performances followed including gigs alongside The Fall, Badly Drawn Boy, Mark Stewart (The Pop Group), The Lovely Eggs and most recently supporting New Order on their latest UK tour.
His new single ‘Control Myself’ is out now on Welsh indie Higuera Records.
Jez did a well received session on Marc Riley’s BBC 6 music radio show in January 2015.
This will be a warm up gig for his forthcoming festival appearances at Kendal Calling and Number 6 Festival where he will play alongside Grace Jones, Elbow, Snoop Dogg, The Vaccines, Mark Ronson, James, Belle and Sebastian, Metronomy, Kaiser Chiefs and many more.
