Alex Ayroc & The Vibrations [+]

Free Before 9pm, £4 Thereafter

Alex Ayroc

Paying tribute to our favourite Reggae songs, Alex Ayroc and the Vibrations have burst onto the scene with a stunning performance at Saughall’s Music In The Park festival. Most notable is frontman Alex and his uncanny resemblance to the master of reggae Bob Marley, however if you dig a little deeper The Vibrations include some of Chester’s greats. Lord Scotland frontman Dave Greenald has taken to the keys whilst original Skatalites and 70’s disco star Locksley Alphonso aka. Jesse Green provides the rock steady percussion. Coupled with rydim bass, guitar, the triangle and ting Alex Ayroc and the Vibrations are about as real as it gets in Chester town.

Crackling Vinyl presents… White Noise Sound [+]

Free Before 9pm, £4 Thereafter

White Noise Sound 1

Assembled in Swansea, Wales, White Noise Sound isolated themselves from all
around them while they conjured their own particular wall of sound – at once relentlessly pulsating and blissed-out.

The band’s white-label demos quickly began to incite label and media attention, receiving
airplay in the UK (from the likes of Steve Lamacq and Bethan Elfyn at BBC Radio 1), Europe and the US.

After honing their craft across the UK and through Europe – with the likes of Super Furry Animals, The Warlocks, Spectrum, Mark Gardener (Ride) and members of Spacemen 3, Spiritualized and The Brian Jonestown Massacre – the six-piece completed their debut album in 2010 with the assistance of Pete Kember (Spacemen 3 / Spectrum / E.A.R) and Cian Ciaran (Super Furry Animals).

Released by cult California-based label Alive Records (whose back-catalogue includes releases from The Black Keys, Beachwood Sparks, Iggy Pop and James Willamson and The Soledad Brothers) in 2010 (US) / 2011 (UK), the eponymous debut was greeted with widespread critical acclaim and WNS toured through Europe in its support.

2011 / 2012 saw the band collaborate with Belfast producer and techno DJ Phil Kieran, the product of which was a Beatport chart-topping single – with remixes by the likes of Maya Jane Coles – and a live show at the MTV European Music Awards fringe festival in Belfast.

2015 sees the return of the Welsh psychedelicists with their second album ‘Like a Pyramid of Fire’ . Working closely with Phil Kieran and again with Cian Ciaran, WNS have taken their trademark wall of sound and raised from it a sonic palette with range and depth. Released on Rocket Girl Records (A Place to Bury Strangers, Low, Silver Apples and Television Personalities), ‘Like a Pyramid of Fire’ is a metronomic and hypnotic onslaught of melody, groove and exploration which goes beyond the standard tropes of psychedelia.

Alx Green + support Campfire Social & Connah Evans [+]

Free Entry

It’s only right that such a talented musician and Telford’s regular should headline a night before he heads off on his big adventure.

Alx Green

Alx Green 1

“Though Alx has been playing in bands for many years, it was only relatively recently he started to indulge his love for acoustic based music, and we’re very glad he did. The 24 year old self-taught musician grew up heavily influenced by his musical parents and began playing guitar at a very young age.

His latest EP ‘It won’t last’ was recently released just before a week long tour of London playing a different venue every night to share his music with new audiences, the final night being at the Natural History Museum!

Marrying skilful songwriting with delicate arrangement and performance, but with a vocal capable of travelling from soft and intimate, to huge soaring dynamics, his music is evocative of classic acoustic songwriting, but with a new, fresh voice”

Campfire Social

Campfire Social

A great band.

Connah Evans

From learning to play piano at an early age Connah progressed to  being taught the cornet, trombone, and the drums. But to the relief of his neighbours, the lure of a steady beat and some fancy drum sticks that lit up in the gloom of his garage, was not enough to keep him from his love of singing.

At the age of four Connah got his first guitar that he used every day! After many years of tampering with that Connah began to write songs after a teacher in his primary school saw his talent and encouraged him to write his own songs by giving him a note pad. Since then Connah has never looked back!

Turning down a place at Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts for which he was chosen from out of hundreds of drummers, Connah has decided to carve out a career for himself singing the self-penned heartfelt ballads and his upbeat material that are beginning to attract attention from Festivals, Radio stations and at a variety of other venues.

Connah released his first single at the beginning of 2014 titled ‘In the City’ which soon attracted the attention of radio stations. It then helped Connah become BBC Radio Wales Artist of the week where his debut single ‘In the City was played three times a day for a week. After this Connah received more and more invites from venues all over the UK asking him to go and play.

The Sundowners + support Marvin Powell & The Coral DJ Set [+]

Free Before 9pm, £4 Thereafter

advance tickets available from seetickets.com*

The Sundowners

“Imagine Jefferson Airplane re-toole for the 21st century, or GOAT if they’d pick up a few Sandy Denny references.”
(Clash)

“Sundowners are undoubtedly an exciting prospect, with a very defined sense of who they are” (NME)

Sundowners have announced details of their debut self-titled album which will be released on Skeleton Key Records on Monday January 26th 2015.

Recorded almost entirely live in Parr Street studios, Liverpool, over a 2 week period in the summer of 2014, the album was produced by James Skelly, Ian Skelly & Richard Turvey and reflects Fiona and Niamh’s mutual love of psyche and west coast harmonies.

The 11-tracks of psyche-folk, harmony heavy, well-crafted pop gems were in part inspired by the diverse and eclectic range of music the band listened to during recording – Goat, Tame Impala, Can, Neu!, Portishead, Air, Gillian Welch, Velvet Underground, Fairport Convention.

Now a formidable live act, the Wirral 5-piece benefit from an almost telepathic on-stage understanding born out of both Fiona & Niamh’s long-term friendship and the addition of Fiona’s brother, Alfie, on guitar.

The last 12-months have seen the band release a brace of limited edition singles, tour constantly playing alongside the likes of Cats Eyes & Kasabian and appear at both the All Tomorrow’s Parties and Glastonbury Festivals, where they played in the packed BBC Introducing tent.

Marvin Powell

The live music starts with a bewitching acoustic set from songwriter Marvin Powell, whose enigmatic vocals soar and whisper over a backdrop of folk guitar.

*Entry is free before 9pm & £4 after. These tickets are designed to guarantee entry after 9 should the venue be at capacity. No refund will be given to early arrivals. For more information please visit our website www.telfordswarehouse.com or call us on 01244 390 090

Please note the event begins at 21:00 with support from local DJ’s. Live music begins at 22:00.

The Flipside presents… [+]

Free Entry

A very exciting night of music is happening at Telford’s Warehouse later this month.

Flipside 1

Flipside Chester & SEEDS are proud to announce an evening of choice acts, hand picked by SL for a truly remarkable evening of local music.

Patchwork Man

Patchwork Man is an artist we’ve been following since we caught him performing at a Doghead Music Society gig a couple of years ago.  The soundcloud clip below is from that very evening. Expect well constructed and catchy chords, clever lyrics and a healthy touch of psychedelia.

C-90.

C-90 is a recording artist and uses live looping to remix his own material in an exciting, live experience, using beat box, heavy baselines and vocal harmony to bring his melodic, heartfelt songs to another level.

Playing gigs around the Liverpool singer songwriter scene, he is a regular at Sound Food And Drink, Heebie Geebies, The Jacaranda & The Attic and The Magnet.

Red Elektra 69

Getting towards the giddy heights of Rev Rev territory at SchottHQ in terms of Chester favourites, believe me, NO ONE is more excited than SL at the prospect of getting my ears blown off by Vince, Jon & Darren. There will be no messing about. Expect Loud Heavy Space Rock performed by some of the best musicians in Chester today.

My Mind Pictures & SL will be selecting you some absolute musical quality to accompany these class acts.
