Hosted by local folk pioneers The Deportees will be inviting down folk musicians to join them in an organised folk session on Telford’s intimate window stage. Playing is by invite only or you can get in touch with them direct via contact.deportees.com and arrange a show with them as house band.
Mick Adrian and Graham play guitars, mandolin, mandocello, bouzouki and banjo as well as harmonica and melodeon – almost entirely acoustic, but with some subtle electric guitar touches.
Most of all they sing – three voices finding unexpected harmonies in a mix of old and recent songs from both sides of the Atlantic, some written by themselves, others by their heroes like Woody Guthrie, Richard Thompson, Hank Williams, John Martyn, Bob Dylan, Guy Clark, Robert Johnson, Buddy Holly, Tom Waits and good old Trad Arr.You’ll hear songs to join in with, songs to make you think, songs to move you and songs to get you moving

“Not many bands can say their first gig was a sell-out. The Mysterines however can. Still only in their teens, the trio led by the knockout vocal projection of lead Lia Metcalfe, set the scene aptly. Chiller-psych met with the bluesy-folk outer-tone of Metcalfe‘s past solo performances as bandmates, bassist George Favager and drummer Zak Mcdonnell, held it all together with tight, measured instrumentation. Three young musicians showing talent and professionalism well above their collective years.” Getintothis.com
Chemistry Lane combine sophisticated and often complex musical arrangements without ever seeming laboured. Their sound evades definition, changing and building, then U-turning mid-track without warning, keeping the listener enthralled. They straddle the fine line between the intensity and momentum of a rock band, complete with snatched moments of genuine heart felt beauty, whilst instilling punchy electro samples and loops worthy of immense dancefloor delirium.
Fat bouncy tempos and driving basslines push tracks like Pitch Black into ever more heightened states of audio euphoria. With a nod to the high priestess of soul Nina Simone with the lyric ‘Black is the colour of my true love’s heart’, it’s a tune that drives itself forward with a passionate insistence, accompanied by breathless sultry vocals that ooze industrial undertones, as guitars shred and warp in rippling soundscapes that convulse and throb above infectious grooves. At just over nine minutes long it is a prime example of the epic ambition of this band’s focus, their mastery over their art, and their expansive collective vision.
Chemistry Lane are abundant with underground potential as they produce potent concoctions of high octane guitar riffs, dreamy electro soundscapes, shuddering electro-grunge vibes and insistent drum rhythms. Fusing genres, they shift effortlessly between progressive escalating ecstatics and pounding synth-pop explosions.

Guided by the voice of God (Lee Majors), they have made it their sacred quest to reintroduce the world to their forgotten childhood, by assaulting them with powerful, mesmerising, dirty and sexual versions of Jamie and the Magic Torch, The Littlest Hobo, Thundercats and many other classic themes from 1980s television. This is their fight, their calling, their honour.
