Slip It Back
THEY ARE BACK WITH NEW ALLIANCES AND THEIR MOST
COMMERCIAL SINGLE TO DATE
DEREK GARTEN AND MULTIPLE GRAMMY AWARD WINNER JOE
PALMACCIO HAVE WORKED WITH EVERYONE FROM JAMES BROWN
TO TAYLOR SWIFT! THROW IN THE HAGGIS HORNS (AMY
WINEHOUSE, MARK RONSON) AND YOU JUST KNOW SOMETHING
SPECIAL IS HAPPENING!
This song is CANTALOOP’S tour de force! Maybe not their swan song, but hell baby its sweet.. Slip It
Back is a heady mixture of something old and something new, spinning lyrics about arriving at the
crossroads that ultimately defines us… what if…… would you do it all the same again?
Whether its Dannie Dee’s up font soul vocal or two brothers weaving their unique harmonises into a
middle eight you know it’s got soul. 1ooc puts the seal on this melodically infused joint giving Slip It
Back its trademark CANTALOOP funk chorus. Please remember they’re not your regular dot to dot
Funksters!
Yes they’ve brought the HAGGIS HORNS back to blaze over this with Atholl firing up his flute bringin
some Nu Funk inferno to the climax of the song. If you don’t know these boys which rock have you
been under! Previously they’ve dropped their funkiness on many from AMY WINEHOUSE to MARK
RONSON/THE ROOTS and beyond.
Just CANTALOOP being CANTALOOP so… Slip It Back.
Take a look at SAM REDMORE Remix its Epic!

APPEARING ON Thursday, March 8th, 2018

The Wave Pictures [+]

Tickets £8

or call (01244) 390 090

The Wave Pictures are strange: an indie rock band with absolutely no indie rock influences. For years, all we’ve listened to has been the classic blues and rock and roll of America in the 50s and 60s. And yet, we’re always disliked those retro acts who slavishly copy the look and the sound, the haircuts and the fonts of the past, but miss the unfettered spirit of the music they love. We have a style of our own already, the way your eyes have a colour. We don’t want to be a blues band. But the blues is there, at the invisible core of everything we do. We love it.

You see, these days the kids like their music to be made by machines, even when it pretends otherwise. The kids don’t seem to fear the machines (as I do, having been so profoundly affected at a young age by the first two Terminator movies) and so they happily switch on their computers and listen to robots singing. Well, one day those robots will rise up and kill us all. Listen instead, kids, to The Wave Pictures, the band that will someday soundtrack the resistance. We are the real thing, you know. The only reason the press haven’t noticed is that they are besotted with the machine music of robots, too. Ah, but no robot could swing the way FranicRozycki swings his tugboat bass on a mighty blues-rock anthem such as “Now I Want To Hoover My Brain Clean” or “Panama Hat”, which will not sound right until it is heard crackling through a broken radio in a burned out basement after the robot apocalypse, a last little sign of human life on earth. The resistance starts here

His first studio EP was released in 2016 and got to number 2 in the iTunes Singer/Songwriter pre-order charts. APPEARING ON Saturday, March 10th, 2018

Campfire Social + Eyre Llew [+]

Free before 9pm // £4 thereafter.

Free all night with a student card or Telford’s membership.

Eyre Llew

Eyre Llew are an ambient-rock trio from Nottingham, UK often compared to bands such as Sigur Ros, Bon Iver, Explosions in the Sky and A Winged Victory For The Sullen. Having formed in August 2014, they have released nine singles and, since then, a self-recorded, produced and released a 12 track debut album entitled ‘Atelo’. They launched ‘Atelo’ on Thursday 19th October 2017 with a hometown show at the 500 capacity Glee Club, Nottingham – which sold out in advance. Already achieving critical acclaim, the bands debut album has reached #24 in Drowned in Sound’s Top 100 albums of 2017 which was such a reward for their DIY approach on this record. Other reviews from internationally respected music outlets have also been shared with Gigwise saying they’re “Arguably one of the most exciting bands in the UK right now.” Plans for 2018 looks to be the year that takes the trio to the next level with more touring and release plans over the UK, Europe and Asia!

Campfire Social

Hailing from Llangollen / North Wales Indie-pop 5 piece, Campfire Social, are a refuge from the wild woods all around. Their incandescent, melodic songs take the intimate heartbreak of Elliott Smith and embellish with golden harmonies borrowed from The Beach Boys mixed with subtle hints of their personal love for post-rock and the mid 90’s emo scene. At times getting you up off your chairs in a passionate rage, at others just to dance but always filled with hope.

In 2015 Campfire Social existed merely as a bedroom project. It wasn’t until late in 2016 that a final lineup was decided and the band released the single ‘Nothing Nowhere Never Now’, listed by Adam Walton (BBC Wales), Rock Current (podcast) and Drunk on Music (Blog) in their best of 2016 roundups.
That song is now one of two tracks from the newly released Wellbeing EP selected for the A-list by BBC Radio Wales resulting in continued airplay, a live session with Janice Long and further BBC 6 music plays. This year the band have performed at the highly acclaimed Festival Number 6 and industry festival Zandari Festa in South Korea, performing 4 shows including a headline performance representing the Welsh Music scene and to promote their planned debut album release in 2018.

Smiley and the Underclass (a Funkdub event) [+]

Free before 9pm // £4 thereafter.

Free all night with a student card or Telford’s membership.

Formed in 2014 in the melting pot of Ladbroke Grove, Smiley & The Underclass bring forth a rebellious call-to-arms with a power, honesty and conviction rarely seen in music in these times.

Infused with the bass-heavy vibrations of Dub music and the deadly concoction of lyrics and guitars reminiscent of The Clash and Bob Dylan, Smiley sings the revolution blues with a rhythm guaranteed to move ideas and dancehalls across the UK! The Underclass are Punky Reggae monsters , with catchy tunes and skanks sliced together with mind-altering garage guitars. Their urgency is real and carries a climate-conscious message powerful enough to awaken all punk rockers and roots rebels in this modern era.

The eponymous debut EP released last year captured the promise of what’s to come from Smiley & The Underclass. They just released their debut album, recorded with the legendary Nick Manasseh (featuring Jamaican musical hero Vin Gordon).
