Mastering by Geoff Pesche @ Abbey Road Studios, London. Made in Paris.King Bee’ is a successful album by a hardworking artist whose music is the passion and blues is the starting point. “An album that does not have to be heard in the living room but ‘live’ around the corner in your favorite pub with friends” www.bluesmagazine.nl “a delicious album that belongs to every music collection. Recommended. ( 8.5/10)” www.concertmonkey.be “they remind me of early Dr. Feelgood, the urgency between Wilko and Lee Brilleaux, all the time underpinned by a tight rhythm section. .. They are all excellent.”. www.bluesmatters.com “The Hexmen is one hell of a band. Tight as a duck’s arse. You could slice cheese with some of their songs, they are so sharp” www.godofthunder.co.uk ” A really good album., love the guitar & harmonica playing” Geoff Pesche, Award winning Producer, Abbey Road Studios, London The band was founded by harmonica player and vocalist George Wickstead aka George Hexman in the late 70s, joining forces with major movers and shakers of the Liverpool music scene. Throughout the early decades, The Hexmen line-up was a shifting collaboration of local worthies, included members of The Las,The Stairs, The Real People,The Boo Radleys, Electrofixion and Dr Phibes & The House of Wax Equation to name a few. The band’s music is blues based certainly but the defining quality of the Hexmen has always been energy with an aggressive, indie edge and a psychedelic undercurrent that lends extra dimensions to the music. As a live outfit and individually, they have worked with and provided support to many of musics illuminaries, from Ray Charles, Charlie Whitney( Family), Spencer Davis, The Animals, Steve Cropper, Johnny Lydons ( P.I.L), Charlie Musslewhite (& John Lee Hookers Band), Dr Feelgood, Wilko Johnson, Chicken Shack to that long gone, venerable music peer Lord Sutch among many others. Funk – Punk -Soul – Electronica – Hip Hop – Heavy Stuff – Breaks – Four to the Floor – Classics – Pop – Country – Weird Sh*t – and so on.. plus budget light show, cake and maybe (probably not) a raffle!

” If you look back over the last fifty or sixty years of popular music, there’s literally millions of songs and records out there that still sound just as good today as when they were released. My mate Ed said ‘If it can be played now then it’s a now record.’ I tend to agree, but that’s only half the story. These days, when I DJ I want to blend all those hip tracks from back in the day with contemporary stuff because whether you like it or not, good music is being released all the time. I love big fat electronic beats, trippy bleeps and massive bass etc. It’s all about striking the right balance on the dancefloor… and having fun.” Tony Bear
