A Band on Ship
ABOS have been around a long time with collectively over a century of music making under their fingers.
At the core of their fluid collective lies a love of real ale and music, importantly in that order.
“You can have beer without music, but music without beer is just wrong”
Perhaps their music sounds better after a pint or two, but that could be a universal truth.
These write ups are often heavy on name dropping and light on truth. I wouldn’t stoop that low.
One of the band played bass for Paul McCartney live on radio one.
Two of the band were in the Family Mahone, and one of them once drank half a pint of absinthe for a bet.
Expect bass and mandolin with guitar and accordion. Add in possible guests on fiddle and percussion, and you get the idea.
Songs and tunes plundered from 600 years of tradition will leave your feet tapping and your glasses empty, as you join in the inevitable journey to closing time and a taxi home.
