A Band on Ship.
ABOS have been around a long time with collectively over a century of music making under their fingers.
At the core of their fluid collective lies a love of real ale, cider and music, importantly in that order.
“You can have beer without music, but music without beer is just wrong”
Perhaps their music sounds better after a pint or two, but that could be a universal truth.
These write ups are often heavy on name dropping and light on truth. I wouldn’t stoop that low.
One of the band played bass for Paul McCartney live on radio one.
One of the band was in The Incredible string band.
Two of the band were in Whitesnake (Acoustic)
Two of the band were in the Family Mahone, and one of them once drank half a pint of absinthe for a bet.
All four of them are in Mark Radcliffe’s Galleon Blast, who’s latest album includes a bonus track written by and featuring Roy Wood.
Expect bass and mandolin with guitar, fiddle and accordion. Add in possible guests and you get the idea. From Playford to Dillon via all points in between.
Songs and tunes plundered from 600 years of tradition will leave your feet tapping and your glasses empty, as you join in the inevitable journey to closing time and a taxi home.
