Inspired by 80s pop rock icons Fleetwood Mac\, Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel\, and stimulated by the sonic legacies of their scene peers (The Appleseed Cast\, TTNG\, Broken Social Scene and Bon Iver)\, in 2019 Lakes released their debut album ‘The Constance LP’\, which saw praise from the likes of Rocksound\, Brooklyn Vegan\, Alt Press and Punktastic — with Washed Up Emo championing the ensemble as “Your new favourite band”.\n \n\n\nCAMPFIRE SOCIAL – 10pm:\nGenre Blending\, Indie-pop + collective; Campfire Social craft a dynamically rich sound with bright harmonies layered over hypnotic melodies that help to underline a continued theme of self deprecation with a feeling of hope. Their honest approach echoes a love of 90’s ‘heart-on-sleeve’ emo culture. At times sobering\, a positive message prevails; we’re better together.\n

DESCRIPTION:‘A Band on Ship’ return to Telford’s Warehouse for an evening of drinking songs\, sea songs and drinking.\n\n\nFree entry\n\n\nLong before open mics had been thought of there was ‘The Session’\nGroups of musicians would gather in a suitable hostelry\, and play music together. There was no amplification\, just the buzz of spontaneity.\nCollectively\, ‘A Band on Ship’ have decided that the session is due for a revival.\nThe basic idea is that anyone can come along\, and join in. Guest performers can play their own stuff\, but they get to be accompanied by the assembled throng.\nChester still has an Irish session at the Cross Keys\, but we wanted a wider palette.\nSo\, on Thursday 1st September at the sign of Telfords Warehouse at 9pm\, we intend to gather\, sing\, play and possibly quaff!\nIt would be great to see you there- Lets share some songs.\nThe evening will be hosted by ‘A band on Ship’\nNick Mitchell has a fine voice and a deep varied repertoire of songs.\nChris Lee can play anything with strings.\nFluff is an extremely talented fiddlist\, and\nRussell ‘Rusty’ Mabbutt can drink his weight in beer.\nTheir history of playing in sessions goes back to the 70’s.\nThis is going to be a regular night with your support\, so once again\, Thursday\, 1st September 9pm\, Telfords Warehouse\, Chester.
